Future Freshmen Get a First Look at High School Life
Today, our 8th grade students took an exciting step toward their future as they visited the high school for a guided tour in preparation for next year.
The visit began in the auditorium, where students were welcomed by Principal Mr. Gallagher, Assistant Principal Mrs. Belanger, as well as the high school counselors and social workers. Mr. Gallagher shared three key pieces of advice for success in high school:
-
Be present – attendance matters.
-
Get involved – from athletics and drama to clubs and activities, there is something for everyone.
-
Stay on top of your work – completing homework consistently is essential.
He also highlighted some of the new opportunities and freedoms students can look forward to, including open campus privileges like playing basketball during lunch, spending time outdoors, and eventually driving to school.
Following the presentation, students broke into small groups to explore the building. They visited a variety of spaces, including music, band, art, business, and the library, while connecting with teachers and current high school students. Along the way, they received valuable advice such as getting involved, trying new things, and choosing electives that truly interest them.
Tomorrow, students will take the next step by meeting with their counselors to begin mapping out their schedules and selecting courses for the upcoming school year.
Families are encouraged to join us tonight at 5:30 PM at the high school for a parent and family information session. Counselors will provide a deeper look at course offerings and be available to answer any questions.
The future is bright, and we are excited to welcome the Class of 2030!
