Building Early Literacy Skills at WP

Kindergarten students at Willard Prior Elementary are building their early literacy skills through a little festive learning!

With Mrs. Rodegher leading the way, students followed along as she wrote a seasonal sentence, identifying punctuation, reading the words together, and sounding them out. They then looked for descriptive details in the sentence that they could bring to life through drawings.

Students also practiced the difference between an author, who writes a story, and an illustrator, who creates the pictures.

From reading and writing to comprehension and creativity, these young learners are discovering how words and pictures work together to tell a story!
