Welcome, Mr. Meeker!

Join the Oneida City School District in welcoming our new Head of Security, beginning July 1, Mr. David Meeker!
Mr. Meeker is a proud Oneida native and a 2002 graduate of Oneida High School. After graduating, he attended Mohawk Valley Community College, where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice. He brings more than 21 years of experience with the Oneida City Police Department, including extensive work in investigations and supervision.
Throughout his career, Mr. Meeker has built strong relationships within the Oneida community through his service and dedication to protecting others. In addition to his law enforcement experience, he has coached many Oneida students in baseball, basketball, and football, helping him connect with local families both on and off the field. Having lived in Oneida his entire life, he values the trust and relationships he has developed throughout the community over the years.
Mr. Meeker believes that effective school safety begins with communication, trust, and preparation. He shared that the safety of students and staff will always remain his top priority and that creating a safe and supportive environment requires strong relationships between schools and families. He also believes being fair, approachable, and transparent is essential in earning the trust of students and helping families feel supported.
As Head of Security, Mr. Meeker says he plans to be a friendly and approachable presence throughout the district. He looks forward to interacting daily with students and being available to support the needs of students, staff, and families. He also encourages students to contribute to a positive and safe school environment by following school expectations and reporting concerns when needed.
Outside of work, Mr. Meeker enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, who keep their family busy with sports and activities. He also enjoys following sports and staying active through fitness and exercise.
Mr. Meeker shared that he is excited to join the Oneida City School District and looks forward to giving back to the community he has proudly called home his entire life.
