Dear Oneida Families,

We are excited to announce that the Oneida City School District will be implementing BusRight, a new school bus tracking and transportation communication app, beginning soon.

What is BusRight?

BusRight is a secure, easy-to-use mobile app that allows families to receive real-time information about their child’s school bus. The app provides GPS-based bus tracking, estimated arrival times, and notifications about delays or route changes. This will help improve communication and give families greater confidence and peace of mind regarding student transportation.

Why are we using BusRight?

The implementation of BusRight will:

• Improve student safety and accountability

• Reduce uncertainty around bus arrival and drop-off times

• Provide timely updates about delays, substitutions, or changes. Please note that the real-time bus tracking feature will be launched in the coming weeks. All other app features will be available upon download. 

• Improve communication between the Transportation Department and families

How will families use it?

Parents and guardians will be able to download the BusRight app on their smartphones and receive information directly from the District. Detailed instructions on how to download, set up, and use the app will be shared on Monday, January 19, via Parent Square, prior to full implementation.

Each family utilizing the BusRight App may have up to two email addresses associated with their account. These addresses are obtained from SchoolTool. Email addresses on file will receive bus route information and will be linked to the student within the app. Please ensure your contact information is updated with the District. If additional individuals, such as grandparents or babysitters, require access, kindly contact the Transportation Office. Three emails are allowed in total. 

BusRight has analyzed our routes and implemented improvements to increase efficiency. As a result, some bus routes may change. Through this app, you may review your route information.

Please note that BusRight is designed with student privacy and data security as a top priority. Only authorized users will have access to student transportation information. The app also utilizes a “Reduced Visibility” setting, meaning the bus location will only appear when the bus is within a few minutes of a student’s stop. This update enhances student safety while continuing to provide timely notifications and information for families.

On Monday, January 19, we will send out a flyer with step-by-step instructions on how to download the app.

BusRight will email families directly throughout the week of January 19. Look for their communication in your email. This includes your bus routes (bus passes), which will also be available through the BusRight App and within that separate email. Please check your junk and spam folders.
