Continuing a 30-Year Art Tradition at Durhamville

Mrs. Leahey’s fifth-grade students at Durhamville Elementary are continuing a tradition that spans more than 30 years. Each year, students participate in this creative art project by transforming a simple cardboard cone and celluclay into unique, hand-crafted sculptures.
Throughout the process, students practice important artistic skills—sculpting, painting, design, and creative expression—while also developing patience, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
This long-standing tradition not only showcases student creativity but also connects today’s learners with generations of Durhamville artists who came before them.
