Where Are They Now: Megan Dwyer

Meet Megan Dwyer, Oneida High School Alumna, Class of 2021!
Megan looks back on her time at Oneida with many fond memories—especially those connected to the Oneida Music Department. During high school, she participated in All-City, All-County, NYSSMA Area All-State, All-State, and the NAfME All-Eastern Conference (held virtually due to the pandemic). Singing in choir provided Megan with a sense of belonging and a positive outlet throughout her school years, offering a safe space for both her and her classmates. To this day, she continues to share her love of music by singing in a community choir alongside her girlfriend.
After graduating from Oneida, Megan attended Cazenovia College until its closure in 2023, earning her Associate’s Degree in Human Services: Mental Health and Counseling. She then transferred to Le Moyne College, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services and a minor in Psychology in May 2025.
Throughout college, Megan worked full-time for ARC of Madison Cortland as a Direct Support Professional for nearly three years while balancing her full-time studies. Recently, she began a new role at BRiDGES in Oneida as an Information and Referral Services Coordinator.
To future graduates, Megan offers this advice: Life after high school isn’t a straight path. It’s more like a messy road trip with wrong turns, unexpected pit stops, great music, and some amazing views along the way. You don’t have to have everything figured out right now. Try things, fail at some, fall in love with others, and keep learning who you are. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Everyone moves at their own pace. Take care of yourself, set boundaries, don’t be afraid to ask for help/go to therapy, and surround yourself with people who make you feel safe and supported. Lastly, remember that it’s okay to start over, change your mind, and outgrow things that no longer fit. You’re not supposed to have all the answers, just the courage to keep going.
Megan’s journey is a wonderful example of dedication, compassion, and community spirit—qualities that make the Oneida CSD community proud!
