Luau Kickoff: A Fun Start to Middle School Counts!

The Middle School Counts program at the Oneida City School District kicked off its activities today with a vibrant luau celebration. Teachers embraced the theme by wearing their favorite Hawaiian shirts, creating an engaging and festive atmosphere.
Throughout the day, students immersed themselves in a variety of educational activities designed to enhance their learning experience. In Spanish class, they practiced introducing themselves, building their language skills. History lessons focused on the Titanic, where students explored the events surrounding this significant historical event.
Additionally, reading skills were put to the test with various exercises, fostering literacy development. Students also engaged in creative expression by making jellyfish artwork. They practiced locking and unlocking their new lockers, reinforcing responsibility and organization. They delved into the PEGS Factors—Political, Economic, Geographic, and Social—providing a comprehensive understanding of how these factors influence society and everyday life.
Finally, the students participated in a team-building activity designed to foster cooperation and creativity. They worked collaboratively in teams to decorate a team banner and develop a team name, enhancing their teamwork and communication skills.
