Another Successful LEAP Week

LEAP students enjoyed another enriching week filled with learning and engaging activities. Our curriculum encompassed Math, Science, English Language Arts (ELA), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and Physical Education. The highlight of the week was a special visit from Violet, a seeing-eye dog in training.
Karen Knight, a retired Kindergarten teacher from OCSD with over 40 years of experience in dog training, graciously shared her expertise and insights about training dogs at the beginning of their journey to assist the visually impaired. Throughout her career, she has trained more than 40 dogs, many of whom are now serving individuals across the county.
During the visit, students asked thoughtful questions, interacted with Violet, and participated in training exercises designed to help her build trust and familiarity with children. We extend our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Engler for coordinating this valuable experience with Mrs. Knight and Violet. The students thoroughly enjoyed having our canine guests back at LEAP, showcasing their commitment to serving those in need. Wishing you the best of luck, Violet!
