OCSD Athletes Take on Special Olympics New York 2025

Oneida City School District Coaches and athletes joined their friends from across the region on Tuesday for the 2025 Special Olympics New York Spring Games, held at the VVS High School Athletic Complex.
The event commenced with inspiring Opening Ceremonies and a Parade of Athletes, where teams proudly processed around the track behind their school banners.
Nearly 300 students participated in a diverse array of track and field events, showcasing their talents in running races, hurdles, long jump, shot put, and softball throw, along with adaptive events such as wheelchair races. Each athlete earned participation ribbons for their efforts, creating a supportive environment where they could cheer for their teammates and friends.
Through Special Olympics New York, inclusivity is at the forefront. Athletes are provided with opportunities to challenge themselves in a fair and equitable setting. Regardless of the outcome, they cultivate character, forge lasting friendships, and discover previously untapped reservoirs of determination within themselves.
We take immense pride in the achievements of our Oneida CSD Special Olympic athletes! #GoExpress
