OHS Students to Attend NYSSSA

We are excited to share that five talented students from Oneida High School have been selected to attend the prestigious New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA) In-Residency Program. Congratulations to Ivy Bodner, Ava DeGroat, Sophia Dixon, Peyton McCanney, and Cortney McCormick!
Since its inception in 1970, the NYSSSA program has transformed the artistic skills and careers of over 20,000 students. This immersive four-week experience will be hosted at SUNY Fredonia, a renowned institution known for its commitment to the arts.
Participants have the chance to engage deeply in one of three specialized programs: Visual Arts, Media Arts, or Theatre. Throughout this program, students will receive a wealth of pre-professional training, personalized coaching from industry experts, and leadership development opportunities. The rigorous schedule will require them to commit up to 14 hours a day, 6 to 7 days a week, fully immersing themselves in their chosen art form.
This experience not only promises to enhance their technical abilities and creative expression but also fosters collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills—key components in any artistic endeavor. We wish these students the best of luck and eagerly anticipate the impressive skills they will hone and the creative works they will produce during this unique opportunity!
