Subj:    Special Patrol Officer Contract – CHANGE IN LOCATION OF PUBLIC HEARING

This letter is written on behalf of the Oneida City School District (the “School District”) in accordance with recent amendments to Education Law §2801-a and §155.17 of Commissioner’s Regulations relating to security officer agreements and school safety plans.  The amendments became effective July 16, 2019 and require local school districts to develop a written contract that defines the relationship between school districts and third-parties providing school security services (e.g. Special Patrol Officers).  The amendments require that such contracts must be developed with stakeholder input, including, but not limited to, parents, students, school administrators, teachers, collective bargaining units, parent and student organizations and community members, as well as probation officers, prosecutors, defense counsels and courts that are familiar with school discipline.

The School District is evaluating a Special Patrol Officer agreement between the School District and Madison County. You are hereby invited to provide input regarding the development of the proposed security services agreement between the School District and the Madison County at the Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be held at Costello Transportation Center, 1136 Freedom Drive, Oneida, NY.
