The Oneida City School District will provide Chromebooks to all students in grades K-12. The 1:1 iLearning Initiative brings us closer to fulfilling our vision of “anytime, anywhere” learning. Technology is a part of our culture and continues to be embedded as a regular part of the process of how our students learn.  Chromebooks are assigned by student and are expected to keep the same device from year-to-year.

Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 had already been assigned Chromebooks and have been using them in the classroom before the buildings closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When buildings closed, Chromebooks that were traditionally assigned to carts throughout the district were sanitized and reassigned to students in grades 7, 8 and 9. To maintain social distancing, the district had door-to-door delivery of  Chromebooks by bus on Thursday, April 2, 2020 for students in grades 7, 8 and 9.

The district ordered a fleet of Chromebooks for students in grades 3-6. Due to implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chromebooks took 9 weeks for delivery. The Chromebooks are now on Oneida grounds and are being set up for our 3-6 students to utilize in the fall.

The district will be placing another order for devices for our K-2 students and anticipate a roll-out in the fall.
