District Wide IT Information

OneidaIT Notifications
The IT Department will send any major security notifications through an email sent by OneidaIT. These emails should be opened as soon as possible as they may affect your productivity. 

OneidaIT Maintenance Window
In order to provide timely updates, patches, and stability fixes for servers and networking equipment, OCSD has designated a monthly maintenance window. You can expect any system to potentially be inaccessible during this time.  If you access any system during a maintenance window, it is strongly recommended that you save your work often. Any unavoidable service outages outside of the scheduled maintenance window will be announced in advance when possible with an e-mail from Oneida IT. The maintenance window is the 1st Wednesday of Every Month from 5:00PM to 7:00PM


Network Access
New employees and guests of the district will receive notification from the building secretary/principal or other administrator when an account has been created. Accounts are only created upon Board of Education Approval or Approval by the IT
department. 


Web Filtering

OCSD utilizes a web filtering service called Lightspeed. The web filter is tied to the network. A district user name and password are required to authenticate. Authenticating to the network using Active Directory lets the web filter know if you are a guest, student, or teacher. 

WiFi 
OCSD Network usernames and passwords are used authenticate and connect to the district wireless network.  Any school issued laptops will connect to the WiFi automatically.  For personal devices, users will need to authenticate to the network using district issued network credentials and will need to follow the steps below.
Guest WIFI accounts need to be created by the IT department. You or the main office secretary will need to put in a Web Help Desk request for this. 

The Wireless Networks are:
OCSD-SECURE - Used by staff and students
OCSD-GUEST - Used by guests whose accounts have been provisioned by IT
